How to Yell “All for One and One for All!”

musketeersYes, we are getting another rendition of The Three Musketeers. This time around, it’s director Paul W.S. Anderson – creator of the Resident Evils and Alien vs. Predator (and newly married to Milla Jovovich) –  taking the reins, modernizing and shooting it in 3-D.  Alexandre Dumas might be turning over in his grave.

Of course, you remember the story: Dumas’ classic tale about a young man named D’Artagnan, who leaves home to become a member of the elite fighting force of the French king’s royal household, expert swordsmen extraordinaire. Along the way, he makes friends with three of the force’s best – and most disgraced – members: Athos, Porthos and Aramis, whose creed of friendship is … well, you know.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Anderson wrote the script with writer Andrew Davies (Bridget Jones’ Diary, BBC’s Pride and Prejudice). The two have been pals since their school days at England’s University of Warwick, so naturally they’d want to tackle this classic. Oh, those English boys and their swords.

“We are definitely modernizing The Three Musketeers without compromising the fun of shooting a period piece,” Anderson told the Reporter. “But in our film, corsets and feathered hats don’t take center stage. Our version is rich in eye-popping action, romance and adventure.” Why? Because they can.
