By casting Jackie Earle Haley as the new Freddy Krueger in an updated A Nightmare on Elm Street. I have to say that’s clever casting. Haley is such a fascinating actor, and he is really thinking outside the box with his choices — Freddy, Watchmen etc. Here’s the first image from the new Nightmare [courtesy of MySpace], which promises to be a lot darker than the original:
It’s a little TOO dark in my opinion to see anything significant, but you get the picture. Same shirt, hat, glove with knives for fingers. A few journalists are posting their set visit previews to this, including Collider.com. Set visits are usually a blast. I got to do one for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban in London. Simply awesome. Sat in the Great Hall in Dumbledore’s chair. Went into Honeydukes on Diagon Alley. Of course, part of it was watching them film a scene, which can get a little tedious but manageable. Oh, who am I kidding? I was in seventh heaven.
