I told you I thought Ryan Reynolds as that Deadpool guy in Wolverine was intriguing and that there was too little of him in the movie.
Apparently, I’m not the only one. Reynolds as the sword-wielding anti-hero Deadpool, aka Wade Wilson, is getting his own flick. For those of you in the X-Men know, this must be very exciting news since he is one of the more popular characters. But for those of us who are NOT in the know, like me, Deadpool’s background still sounds like the stuff comic-book action movies are made of: As a mercenary, Deadpool is unstoppable, but when he is diagnosed with cancer, he allows himself to be experimented on by William Stryker and his gang of mad scientists, turning him into an indestructible weapon. Wonder if his mouth will be sown shut like it was in Wolverine.
In other movie news: Christopher Nolan’s being very secretive about his next project, Inception, but we know this: It’s a sci-fi action film of some sort “set within the architecture of the mind,” or so says Cinematical, and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, Cillian Murphy and Michael Caine. Color me there. This also reminds me that I really need to see Nolan’s Memento again – in fact, I should own it. Here’s a clip from the ultra-cool mind bender:
