How to Be a Woman of Comedy

OK, it’s official. I love Sarah Silverman. I’m sure I’m not the only woman who has crushed on her, but I’m truly in awe on how hysterical she is. I covet her talents. Here she shines with a bunch of other reeeeeeeeeally funny women, all nominated for Emmys, at a roundtable with THR.com:

And these same women chatting about getting older in the comedy biz:

I’ve always admired women in comedy. I was the class clown throughout high school and college and relished it. I thought I wanted to be an actress but when I was in my ’20s, I joined a comedy improvisational group and found my real fix. It was a once-a-week gig at a student hangout on the UCLA campus, and we’d perform no matter what the audience size — two or 20. That was one of the more nerve-wracking but satisfying experiences of my life, skills I still use to this day, especially when I interview people. Now it seems there is a wonderful resurgence of strong, beautiful, mature ladies who are making us pee in our pants. And while I’m not in their inner circle, I am forever in on the joke. Bitch, puhleeeeeze!
