Speak of the devil! Hot off his smash hit comedy The Hangover, Bradley Cooper is moving up to the A-list, er, make that The A-TEAM. Rumor over at the Hollywood Reporter has it cutie boy might be in line to play Lt. Templeton “Faceman” Peck, in the bigscreen adaptation. Faceman is part of a group of framed, on-the-run war vets who get into adventures while evading the military. Dirk Benedict played him in the TV show (see below).
UPDATE: Looks like Liam Neeson may chomp the cigars as Lt. John “Hannibal” Smith, Variety reports, the George Peppard role in the TV show. Oh boy.
I still really can’t believe they are making The A-Team into a movie — but then again, they’ll remake just about anything. Or do sequels. In fact, Bradley is already on board to reprise his role as teacher Phil in a Hangover sequel, which went into development even before the movie opened big this past weekend. I guess they had a lot of faith the film would do well. Hmm, wonder who will get married next: Stu (Ed Helm) to the stripper (Heather Graham) — for real this time?
In other casting news: Julia Roberts might get it on with Javier Bardem in her next project Eat, Pray, Love, based on the Elizabeth Gilbert memoir. It follows Gilbert’s mid-life crisis as she gets divorced and goes on a three-year journey to discover herself. First, she gorges herself in Italy (Eat); then she finds spiritual energy in India (Pray); and finally, you guessed it, finds love in Bali. Variety reports Bardem is in talks to be that love interest. Lucky girl.
Speaking of love, Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal are going to reunite in the film Love and Other Drugs. You remember Anne and Jake tried their hand at love in Brokeback Mountain, but unfortunately Jake wasn’t much into it. This time he is. He’ll play Jamie Reidy, a real-life pharmaceutical sales rep who wrote an insider-y book called Hard Sell: The Evolution of a Viagra Salesman, reports Cinematical. As a pill-pusher for Pfizer, Reidy apparently saw it all, but the film will focus on Reidy falling for Anne’s character during a sales call, finding out she has Parkinson’s disease and growing a conscience. Aw, that’s sweet.
