How to Comic-Con: “Twilight” Madness

Twilight_NewMoon_Bella_Edward-thumb-400x300-18431So I’m sitting here feeling a little sorry for myself that I’m not yukking it up with the cool kids at Comic-Con. I wasn’t completely organized and missed the chance to get credentials. I did go last year, when the Twilight gang made their first appearance, unaware of the phenomenon they were about to create.

Apparently this year there is a Twilight tent CITY in front of the San Diego Convention Center, where fans have been camped out since Tuesday, eagerly awaiting this morning’s panel for The Twilight Saga: New Moon, with stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and newcomer Taylor Lautner. Oh my. I read that Burger King has even gotten in on the act, handing out crowns with either Team Edward (for the vampire) or Team Jacob (for the werewolf) on them. OK, maybe I’m not THAT crazy, to fight those crowds.  Here’s a pretty good live blog of the New Moon press conference on Hitfix.com. Taylor sounds sweet – and so naïve compared to the other two. Cute as he is, I’d still have to pick the vampire over the werewolf.

Other Comic-Con tidbits: EW ran it’s Comic-Con cover story last week with exclusive Iron Man 2 pics. I’m sure the fans will be clamoring to get in on this action, when the whole gang shows up for an Iron Man 2 panel. iron man 2Mickey-Rourke-Iron-Man-2_lIron-Man-2-Downey_l

DeppBurtonIt also looks like Johnny Depp made his very first Comic-Con appearance at the Alice in Wonderland panel. According to HitFix.com (again), the room exploded when he walked on stage right after the teaser trailer was shown [Don’t worry, I’m going to post it as soon as humanly possible]. Depp didn’t answer any questions, giving complete deference to director Tim Burton, but his support for the film was clearly evident.

Later today, James Cameron is also supposed to show up to talk about his highly anticipated 3-D movie Avatar, as well as show some footage, which up to this point he has kept under lock and key with nary a leak. I’ll make sure to look for any images/teaser stuff I can get my hands on.

Sigh. As God as my witness, I will Comic Con-it again!
