Feet first — or in this case, tumbling down a waterfall in a rubber raft. When I first heard they were giving Land of the Lost a big-screen treatment with Will Ferrell as the main attraction, I knew I just HAD to see it. First of all, I love Will Ferrell. He could read the phone book and make me laugh. Second, I was a Saturday morning addict of the extremely cheesy ’70s TV show of the same name — Rick, Will, Holly, dinosaurs, Sleestaks and all. I was 10-years-old, of course, but still, that’s some classic television right there. Remember the opening title sequence? Sing it with me …
Wow, what a little CGI could have done for this, huh? Now, I’d expect them to poke fun at the show in the feature film; it’s just begging to be spoofed, a la The Brady Bunch. What I didn’t expect was the film to get such a hilarious cast as Ferrell and Danny McBride, with the lovely Anna Friel (Pushing Daisies) along for the ride.
I’m already on the floor. And apparently there’s an updated trailer currently playing on Cinematical. In theaters June 5, Land of the Lost will be a welcomed addition to the blockbuster action this summer, I guarantee it.
