How NOT to Cast: Sean Penn

MILKI sort of feel for Sean. Even though he just won his second Oscar playing politician/gay rights activist Harvey Milk, Sean is obviously having a rough time of it. Last month he filed for divorce from his estranged wife Robin Wright Penn – for the SECOND time – only to withdraw the petition – for the SECOND time. I’m rooting for you guys, though.

Apparently, he isn’t feeling the work thing, either. According to the Hollywood Reporter, he’s dropping out of not one, but two, movies. The first is the Farrelly Brothers’ Three Stooges redo, in which Penn was to play Larry – of Curly, Moe and Larry. I think this is a wise choice. Honestly, can you see Penn getting smacked in the head several thousands times a day? Me either. The other film is the crime thriller Cartel, in which he would have played a man protecting his son from any number of bad Mexican drug lords. Wait, has there ever been a good Mexican drug lord?

It’s OK, Sean. You deserve to take a break. But if you do feel like doing the comedy thing again, please don’t do something as inane sounding as The Three Stooges. Because you rocked in Fast Times as Ridgemont High.
