That’s easy … be an incredibly sexy vampire in love with a mortal or a bunch of Indian kids living in the slums of Mumbai, hoping for a better life. MTV announced their top 2009 nods, including seven nominations for Twilight and six nominations for Slumdog Millioniare. The other best flicks nods went to High School Musical 3: Senior Year, The Dark Knight and Iron Man.
Besides eccentric categories such as Best Kiss, Best Fight etc, MTV came up with a few more: Best Song (OK, that’s kinda boring but relevant, I guess) and Best WTF Moment — now THAT’S a category you can get behind. The nominations? Amy Poehler peeing in the sink in Baby Mama; Angelina Jolie killing her adversaries, and herself, with a single curved bullet in Wanted; the little kid jumping into a pond of poop to get of an outhouse in Slumdog Millionaire; Kristen Bell breaking up with Jason Segel — while he is completely nude — in Forgetting Sarah Marshall; and finally Ben Stiller licking a decapitated head in Tropic Thunder . Hmmm, I might have gone with Tom Cruise dancing to Ludacris’ “Get Back” in the film’s end credits. What. The. F***????
Anyway, the MTV Movie Awards does provide some relief to the award season doldrums, and with Andy Samberg hosting, there’s bound to be some jaw-dropping antics. I mean, have you seen any of the promos yet? Here’s the best one with Jack Black and Michael Cera. The show airs May 31 at 9:00 pm ET.
