For starters, it’s always helpful to have an Oscar-winning director for a father. Take actress Bryce Dallas Howard (The Village, Terminator Salvation), for instance. She has co-written a screenplay called The Originals about a group of twentysomethings who grew up together and reunite for a weekend after they find out a teacher they all loved when they were kids has fallen into a mysterious coma. Very exciting.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Ms. Bryce came up with this idea — along with her writing partner, Dane Charbeneau (who also happens to be engaged to Howard’s sister Jocelyn) — after seeing how some of her contemporaries were dealing with a quarter-life crisis. Then she gave it to her dad, Ron Howard, who is now thinking about directing it. Honestly, what is he going to say? “No, sorry Bryce, sweetheart, this script is kinda pointless and boring.” Come on. Nepotism works, baby!
